Cinematic Nothingness
Synopsis: In 2020, independent filmmaker Brey launched a hilariously unsuccessful improvised YouTube sketch channel called Cinematic Nothingness. No one watched it, no one asked for more… which naturally led Brey to the next logical step: making an entire feature film in the exact same format.
There’s just one problem.. he has absolutely no idea what the movie should be about.
Armed with a questionable “heroic” wardrobe choice and a staff that may or may not have any real power, Brey sets out to make a feature film with no script, no plan, and no clear direction. What begins as a simple brainstorming session quickly spirals into an absurd creative odyssey filled with half-formed ideas, philosophical tangents, imaginary narrative devices, and even a detour to the mysterious River of Time.
As Brey searches for the story he’s supposed to be telling, the filmmaking process itself begins to unravel on screen. The movie that started as a filmmaker trying to think of a movie slowly transforms into something else entirely: a raw, hilarious portrait of the chaos, doubt, and existential questioning that comes with trying to create something out of nothing.
Improvised entirely from start to finish, Cinematic Nothingness is an experimental comedy about the highs, lows, and delusions of independent filmmaking, where the search for a story becomes the story itself.
